Eric Jourgensen, Ed.D., is a South Florida educator, journalist, author, speaker, and student-media adviser. His work focuses on helping students and adults navigate misinformation, persuasion, artificial intelligence, journalism, media literacy, and an increasingly complicated information environment. Everything I Told You Was True is a narrative nonfiction project about misinformation, media literacy, persuasion, verification, and the increasingly difficult work of deciding what deserves our trust. Beginning with the deceptively alarming language surrounding “dihydrogen monoxide,” the project examines a simple but urgent question: How do intelligent people avoid being fooled when misleading information is designed to feel true?
Its central argument is not that people should distrust everything. Skepticism works best when paired with curiosity, verification, context, and intellectual humility.
